How do I charter?

We will help you determine which boat is right for your group.  A proposal will be emailed out to you initially and we can then make changes to suit your needs.  When you are at the early stage a “tentative” hold will be put on a boat for a particular date and time.  This entitles you to a 48 hour first right-of-refusal opportunity but does not obligate you.  However no boat or venue is considered “booked” until contracts are signed and a 50% deposit is received in house.

Why should I use NDI?

Nautical Destinations is a small, woman-owned business chartering on the Bay since March of 1995.  We bring many years of hospitality experience to our approach to charter (please see “About Us”).  Our specialty as independent brokers is finding the appropriate boat based on our client’s needs.

Why shouldn’t I go directly to the owner?

All brokers/owners have access to the same boats and the prices are the same regardless of whether you book through a broker or an owner.

What if I want to do something land based in conjunction with a boat?

ND can help you with both.

Do you do teambuilding?

This is something we specialize in, from two identically-rigged schooners for a Match Race, sailing regattas, and scavenger hunts to food and wine experiences aboard custom charter yachts  - check out our teambuilding experience.

Can I bring my own food?

We work in conjunction with our caterer to provide the best food quality and service on board.  Our charters/events are sold as packages – one stop shopping providing the best experience for your group outing.

Why is it important to book a Coast Guard Certified Yacht?

Coast Guard certification means the vessel goes through an extensive inspection on a regular basis and has to comply with federal regulations concerning equipment and safety.

Why shouldn’t I take my group on board a friend’s boat?

Private boats are not subject to Coast Guard inspections.  Any group “chartering” a private boat is circumventing all the safety regulations the Coast Guard enforces with the professional charter boats.  Liability is a major concern for any group and private owner.

Who takes care of gratuities and taxes?

All gratuities and taxes are included in your charter proposal.

What if the weather is bad?*

All vessels go out regardless of the weather and will rely on the captain to make any weather cancellation related decisions. Safety is paramount in our industry and is the only pre-requisite for cancellation at the captain’s decision.

What should I wear on a sailboat?

Please dress casually with soft-soled shoes, hats and suntan lotion. In spring and fall a jacket is advisable.
