Match Racing

Welcome to match racing on the Chesapeake Bay aboard two spectacular sailing yachts!  Our schooners are “Woodwind and Woodwind II”, identical 74’ classic wooden yachts.  Both are designed and constructed by the same respected builder insuring a fair race based on the perfect “matching” of the yachts. After a short briefing dockside, your group will be divided into two crews for “sails” training and racing…keen competition and accurate strategizing produce an exhilarating finish!

Take the Helm!

Sail the Chesapeake aboard a beautiful 74 foot sailboat!  Sailing on a large, classic schooner takes group cooperation and a willingness to work together towards a common goal. Teambuilding aboard “Schooner Woodwind” begins with organizing your “crew” into separate teams. Each team will be assigned to an actual crewmember who will teach the different aspects of sailing a large vessel. These learning areas will include:

• hoisting the sails,
• charting your voyage,
• navigation and steering,
• reading the weather, and
• taking commands. 

With our new “experts” as crew, you’ll proudly sail back into the busy harbor!

“Sails Time” — Sailing Regatta

Take to the seas for your next “adventure” teambuilding event — a Sailing Regatta on small, but fast sailboats!  In crews of 4-5 sailors, your group will be instructed by professionals in the time-honored duties of trimming sails, helmsmanship, navigation and ballast while actually racing the vessels to the finish line!  Teamwork is imperative as it takes an organized and focused group to sail the vessel to its top performance.  Full day or half day, lunch, drinks and, of course, a post race champagne celebration!  For any non-competitors, encourage a “team spirit” competition with your cheering section aboard a spectator yacht.

Nautical Scavenger Hunt!

Fun and filled with adventure …a nautical scavenger hunt on the creeks of Annapolis!  Crews up to 6 board small boats and work together to decipher clues, photograph and retrieve items identified on the Scavenger Hunt!

Turning Water into Wine!!

Laurie Forster, The Wine Coach® will lead a lively discussion of how to taste wine, rather than just drinking it.  The process professionals use to taste wines will be discussed, along with a number of interactive teambuilding exercises to help participants truly understand tasting.  Several distinctly different styles of wine will be sampled and participants will learn how to describe each as well as some tips on food and wine pairing.

Personal Chef Rebecca Sileo brings a unique way of fostering cooperation and teamwork - Culinary Team Building!  Nothing brings people together better than fine food and company.  These Team Building Events are structured around a wide range of menus featuring participation by the attendees to promote communication, problem solving and creativity in a fun environment while still enjoying the beautiful Chesapeake aboard a gorgeous custom built motor yacht!!

Colonial Criss Cross

The words relate to the Annapolis Historic District and as much about your company/group as you care to include.  Clues for these words are often directions of where the team can go to learn or obtain the answer.  A colonial guide can be sent with each group to assist by encouragement and to keep them on track!  The guide will not provide them with any answers but will only respond to any questions about Annapolis in general.  Garbed in period costume the guides will add greatly to the fun with amusing stories and banter about colonial times in Annapolis!
